Terms of service.
Reference Art
To ensure accuracy in all design details and to minimize miscommunication, clients are required to provide a two-view reference sheet of their custom character (front and back). The level of detail and clarity provided in the reference directly impacts the accuracy of the final quote and the overall execution of the commission.
Clients must ensure that all reference materials submitted are current and accurate. Outdated or inconsistent references will not be accepted (for example, submitting a reference depicting black paws while requesting white paws without an updated visual reference).
VRChat avatar references are not accepted, as they typically do not provide sufficient detail or consistency required for fursuit construction.
Payment Methods
For commissions under $450 USD, full payment is required at the time the commission slot is claimed and the final price is confirmed by both the Client and Freaks of Nature LLC. Once full payment has been received, 30% of the total payment is non-refundable.
Payment plans are available only for commissions totaling over $450 USD. When a payment plan is selected, the total commission cost will be divided into three (3) equal installments, due every two (2) weeks. The first installment is due at the time the commission slot is claimed, with no exceptions. 50% of each installment is non-refundable once received.
Example Payment Plan:
$800 Commission Cost + $100 Shipping = $900 Total
• 1st Payment (due upon booking): $300
• 2nd Payment (due 2 weeks later): $300
• 3rd Payment (due 2 weeks after second payment): $300
Freaks of Nature LLC accepts payments exclusively through QuickBooks invoices via ACH bank transfer, credit card, or debit card.
cepts payments through Quickbooks invoices via ACH bank transfer, credit card, or debit card. We do not accept payments via Paypal.
Any attempt to initiate a chargeback, payment dispute, or unauthorized reversal of payment without first contacting Freaks of Nature LLC to resolve the issue will be considered a violation of these Terms of Service. In such cases, the Client forfeits any rights to the product, warranty, or further services, and Freaks of Nature LLC reserves the right to dispute the claim with the payment provider and provide all relevant documentation.
Cancellations and Returns
All fursuits and custom parts are made to order. As such, all pre-made part sales are final, and completed custom products are not eligible for return or exchange.
Full Payment Commissions:
30% of any full payment is non-refundable once received. If the Client requests a cancellation after work has begun, the remaining refundable portion (up to 70%) will be determined based on the amount of work completed at the time the cancellation request is received. Refunds are issued at the reasonable discretion of Freaks of Nature LLC, taking into account materials purchased, time invested, and progress made on the commission.
Payment Plan Commissions:
50% of each individual payment is non-refundable once received. If a cancellation is requested after one or more payments have been made, refunds will be calculated based on completed work and the non-refundable portions already retained. Any remaining unpaid balances will be waived upon cancellation. Clients who cancel a payment plan commission may be declined for future commission opportunities with Freaks of Nature LLC.
Abandoned Projects / Non-Responsive Clients:
Clients are expected to maintain communication throughout the commission process. If a Client becomes unresponsive for a period of 30 days or more without prior notice, the project may be placed on hold. If no response is received after 90 days, the commission may be considered abandoned at the Maker’s discretion. In such cases, any payments already made are non-refundable, and the Maker reserves the right to discontinue work on the project.
Design Changes
Design changes can be made to the original quoted design up until supplies (such as fur, fleece, minky, etc.) are ordered for the custom commission. Once materials are ordered, any requested changes cannot be guaranteed. To avoid any issues, please ensure you are completely satisfied with the character design before supplies are ordered.
Please note that any design changes requested after the original quote is provided may result in a price adjustment, either increasing or decreasing the original quoted price.
Artwork Credit
By purchasing and/or receiving a fursuit from Freaks of Nature, you agree to the following terms regarding the proper crediting of fursuit work:
No Claiming Our Work as Your Own: You may not claim any work created by Freaks of Nature llc as your own. This includes, but is not limited to, the creation, labor, and assembly of any fursuit parts or fully finished fursuits.
Foambases: If you post or showcase a finished fursuit head built upon a Freaks of Nature LLC foambase, credit is appreciated but not required. However, if you are posting or showcasing a fursuit head built on a Freaks of Nature LLC foambase for promotional purposes (e.g. using the finished head as an example of your craftmanship) or are attempting to sell the head, you are required to credit Freaks of Nature LLC as the foambase maker. This ensures proper acknowledgment of the craftsmanship and artistry involved in the construction of the foambase.
Repeated failure to properly credit the artist is considered a violation of our Terms of Service and may result in being blacklisted from future commission openings.
Client / Maker Expectations
Clients are expected to respond to the Maker’s questions, updates, and approval requests within a reasonable timeframe. Timely communication helps keep the project on schedule. When providing feedback, Clients should be as clear and specific as possible. For example, instead of saying “I don’t like how this looks” or “This doesn’t match my reference,” more helpful feedback would be “I would prefer the ears to be more rounded” or “The marking on the thigh does not match my reference.”
For fullsuit commissions, Clients are required to complete and ship their duct tape dummy (“DTD”) to the Maker within three (3) months of the project start date, unless otherwise agreed in writing. The DTD must be properly constructed and clearly marked according to the Maker’s guidelines. If a submitted DTD is deemed inadequate—such as missing required markings (e.g., elbows, knees, or cut lines), lacking proper labeling, or showing signs of damage or unraveling—the Maker reserves the right to request that the Client create and submit a new DTD that meets the required standards before work can continue.
The Client is responsible for providing accurate measurements and properly constructed materials. Freaks of Nature LLC is not responsible for fit issues, discomfort, or required adjustments resulting from inaccurate measurements, improperly constructed DTDs, or changes to the Client’s body after DTD submission.
The Maker is expected to maintain clear and consistent communication throughout the commissioning process. This includes responding to current client messages and work-in-progress (WIP) picture inquiries within 48 hours.
The Maker will make reasonable efforts to adhere to the stated ‘work start date’ and estimated completion timeline provided at the beginning of the commissioning process. While timelines are only estimates and may be subject to change, the Maker is expected to keep Clients informed of any significant delays or adjustments. Although rare, work delays may occur due to circumstances beyond the Maker’s control, including but not limited to illness, emergencies, material shortages, or workload. Such delays do not constitute a breach of this agreement.
The Maker will send out Monthly Studio Updates outlining work completed during the previous month and planned work for the upcoming month to ALL clients, regardless of an individual Client’s commission progress.
In addition, the Maker will keep the Public Trello Work Queue up to date as progress is made and will post updates in the Freaks of Nature Telegram Update Channel, which is available to all past and current Clients, at least once per week.
Fursuit Warranty
Freaks of Nature LLC warrants that all fursuits or fursuit parts are free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and conditions for a period of one (1) year from the date of delivery to the Client (“Warranty Period”).
During the Warranty Period, the Maker agrees, at its sole discretion, to repair or replace any product or component found to be defective in materials or workmanship. To obtain warranty service, the Client must notify the Maker in writing, receive approval from the Maker, and return the product to the Maker. The Client is responsible for all shipping costs associated with returning the product to the Maker, and the Maker shall bear the cost of return shipping to the Client following repair or replacement.
This warranty does not apply to, and expressly excludes, any defects or damage resulting from: (a) unauthorized modifications, alterations, repairs, or refurbishment attempts performed by the Client or any third party; (b) misuse, abuse, neglect, or improper handling; (c) failure to follow care or storage instructions, including unsafe or unsuitable storage conditions; or (d) normal wear and tear.
This warranty is limited to the original purchaser and is non-transferable. Except as expressly stated herein, the Maker disclaims all other warranties, whether express or implied, including but not limited to any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. In no event shall the Maker be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or related to the use or inability to use the product.
Post-warranty repairs can be accepted on a case-by-case basis and are at the cost of the client.
Completion Estimates
Freaks of Nature LLC is happy to provide an estimated completion time for your commission, but please note that these dates are not guaranteed. We prioritize quality over speed and will not compromise the craftsmanship of your suit to meet a rushed deadline. However, we are happy to consider any upcoming conventions or events you plan to attend and will do our best to accommodate your preferred timeline.
Please note, we do not accept "rush" payments to expedite the process.
Sizing
A duct tape dummy (DTD) is only required for commissions that include a bodysuit. For custom fursuit heads, we use a series of measurements based on the diagram provided. We recommend that clients take each measurement at least three times to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Shipping
Shipping costs are not included in the quoted price of any fursuit commission. The shipping charge will be determined separately and may vary depending on the client's location. Within the United States, shipping typically ranges from $60 to $200 USD.
All packages shipped out from our studio are fully insured for their declared item value. Freaks of Nature LLC is not responsible for any lost or damaged products during shipping.
Please Note: Freaks of Nature LLC is not liable for any charges, fees, or holds imposed by international customs agencies.
Safety and Use Disclaimer
Products manufactured by Freaks of Nature LLC, including but not limited to fursuits and related components, are intended for limited recreational and performance use only and must be used in a safe and responsible manner.
Fursuits shall not be worn while operating any motor vehicle or any powered or unpowered machinery, including but not limited to automobiles, motorcycles, powered scooters, or similar equipment, especially on public roads. Use of a fursuit may impair vision, hearing, balance, and mobility, and may increase the risk of accidents and injury.
Fursuits are not designed for use on rough, uneven, unstable, or hazardous surfaces or terrain, including but not limited to outdoor trails, gravel, wet surfaces, or obstructed walkways. The Client assumes all risks associated with use in such environments and situations.
Fursuit feetpaws are intended for use on clean, dry, indoor flooring only, free from spills, debris, or obstructions. Use on any other surface may result in damage to the product and/or increased risk of slipping, falling, or injury.
By using the product, the Client acknowledges and agrees that they assume all risks associated with its use, including but not limited to risks arising from reduced visibility, restricted movement, and environmental hazards. Freaks of Nature LLC shall not be liable for any injuries, damages, or losses resulting from misuse, unsafe use, or use in conditions inconsistent with the guidelines set forth herein.
Allergy Disclaimer
Clients acknowledge that fursuits are made using materials including, but not limited to, faux fur, foam, fabrics, adhesives, and other crafting materials. Freaks of Nature LLC is not responsible for any allergic reactions, sensitivities, or adverse health reactions that may occur as a result of exposure to these materials. Clients are encouraged to notify the Maker of any known allergies or sensitivities prior to the start of production so accommodations can be discussed where reasonably possible.
Usage Rights
Once the fursuit has been fully paid for and delivered, ownership of the physical fursuit and the character belongs to the Client. The Client has the right to use, wear, display, and perform as the character as they wish.
The Client agrees to credit Freaks of Nature LLC as the maker when appropriate, especially in commercial settings where maker credit is normally given. Please refer to the Artwork Credit section for more details.
Freaks of Nature LLC retains the ongoing right to take and use photos or videos of the fursuit for portfolio, marketing, promotional, and self-advertising purposes, including on websites and social media.
Right to Refuse Service
Freaks of Nature LLC reserves the right to refuse or cancel a commission at any time, for any reason, including but not limited to inappropriate conduct, harassment, unreasonable demands, or violation of these Terms of Service. In such cases, any refund issued will be determined based on the amount of work completed.
Clients are expected to communicate respectfully and professionally. Harassment, abusive behavior, or repeated disregard for stated policies may result in cancellation of the commission without refund and removal from future commission eligibility (blacklisting).
The Terms of Service code is 5497.
